ABOUT MYA BRYANT
Mya Bryant is a theater artist from Cedar Grove, North Carolina, graduating from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a BA in Theater and a minor in Musical Theatre. She first fell in love with theater through church productions at the age of four or five. While she began as an actor, Mya discovered her true calling in directing, writing and directing self-created productions each semester. Her hands-on, collaborative approach balances creative openness with clear leadership, encouraging actors to share ideas while maintaining structure.
Her work often explores themes of identity, race, and diversity, blending humor with deeper meaning so audiences leave both entertained and thoughtful. Mya has been recognized through the Casey Awards, winning multiple awards for directing, writing, and acting—including sweeping all categories in Spring 2025. She is also experienced in all areas of production, from lighting to costumes, making her versatile in her theater knowledge.
Outside of theater, Mya serves as lead resident advisor for two residence halls and holds leadership roles in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Sigma Alpha Iota. Inspired by her mother’s support, Mya brings humor, energy, and dedication to everything she does. She hopes to pursue an MFA in directing or acting and eventually teach at the university level, continuing to create theater that is meaningful, engaging, and thought-provoking.
